PBIS At EMPS

At Evans Mills Primary School, we utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports to teach and model the expectations that we want students to meet. We may all be Indian River Wolves, but we are also EMPS Superheroes.

EMPS Superheroes are:

  • Empathetic
  • Motivated
  • Problem Solvers
  • Safe

These four simple expectations are the same no matter where in the building students are.

Teamwork
Child reads under a blanket with a flashlight

EMPS Superheroes work together to earn pom poms for their class jar. When the jar is full, they exchange the full jar for a puzzle piece. Once our puzzle is complete, we earn a school wide celebration.

Previous celebrations have included a "sip and draw" with hot chocolate sponsored by Dunkin, Stewarts ice cream socials, dance parties, scavenger hunts, and our favorite - flashlight fort reading.

Individual
Two students stand with books in front of a book vending machine.

In addition to our schoolwide celebrations, each child has the opportunity to earn a token to our book vending machine.

Students earn punches on their Superhero Card by far exceeding our basic expectations. Once they have earned 10 punches, they exchange their card for a book token and write their name on our wall of EMPS Book Club Superheroes.
